I received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Santa Clara in 1974 and my Juris Doctor from Santa Clara in 1977. The same year I was admitted to the State Bar of California. I am licensed to practice before all of the courts in the State of California, the Northern, Southern, Central and Eastern District Courts for the United States District Court for California, the Ninth and Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeal and the United States Tax Court. I have litigated cases in all of the Bay Area counties, and in counties from San Diego to Humboldt. I regularly appear in the United States Tax Court for trial in San Francisco. I obtained a favorable decision in an "en banc" Tax Court decision, which is the seminal case in change of accounting rules for construction companies in the case "RACMP v. Commissioner.” I have formed, advised, and maintained hundreds of corporations, LLC’s, LLP’s, general and limited partnerships, and other business entities. I advise several hundred current trust and estate planning clients. My practice is built on personalized focused advice and counsel to long-term clients. Over the past 33 years, I have lectured regarding tax or estate issues on behalf of Crocker Bank, Hibernia Bank, Bank of America, IBM, San Jose Mercury News, Merrill Lynch, Morgan Hill Unified School District, Gavilan College, and the San Jose Tax Chapter of the Society of Certified Public Accountants, among others. I am a former Lecturer of Law at Peninsula University School of Law. I was an instructor for the San Mateo Sheriff’s Department in scuba diving and water/cliff rescue techniques and a member of the Sheriff’s Underwater Recovery Team. I am founding legal counsel to the Cardinal Wrestling Club in Stanford California; a volunteer wrestling coach at the high school and club level; and placed as a silver medalist at the U. S. National Wrestling Championships in my veteran age group. I was born and raised in the Midwest, married Pamela in 1980, and we have raised our two children in Santa Clara County since then. |
